Health For Pregnancy: Healthy Eating During Eating Pregnancy

Everyone is full aware of the importance of eating healthy during pregnancy. This is because the baby gets all of his or her nutrients from the food the mother consumes. Many people call it "eating for two". This is true, but also false. The portions should not be for two, however the nutrients is for two. The mother to be needs to make sure she is taking in enough of the daily recommended vitamins and minerals to be sure she has enough after the baby has taken some.

Many people nowadays, do not realize the importance of eating breakfast. It is even more important for an expecting mother to eat her breakfast. If you think about it, your baby doesn't have a schedule yet, he or she will wake up and sleep and you might not even know it. More than likely the baby has woken up and has been waiting to take nutrients from you since your last meal. If you are not eating enough, your body will let you know. In most cases, your body will begin to feel sick if you have waited too long between meals.

To be sure you are consuming enough throughout the day to keep you and your baby healthy, you should be consuming between 4 and 6 servings of dairy. This doesn't mean just milk, you can mix it up a bit by having yogurt and cheese as well. This will ensure you and the baby are getting plenty of calcium during your pregnancy. Having enough calcium will help your baby to develop strong bones as it helps your bones and teeth as well.

Fruits and veggies are also very important for the expecting mother and her growing child. Greens, are among the best to consume on a daily basis. Sweet potatoes are another excellent food to add to your diet. These will give you much needed energy during your pregnancy as well as nutrients. If you snack on fresh veggies instead of some of the sweets that you might be craving you will also find you have more energy.

There are some food that you should try to avoid completely during your pregnancy. The reasons vary, but they are not healthy for a pregnant woman to consume. Some of these are unpasteurized products like brie, some fish, such as swordfish or shark and any others that are high in mercury content. Raw eggs and undercooked meats are also very unhealthy for a pregnant woman and her unborn child.

Caffeine is another product that should not be consumed by an expecting mother. Avoid coffee, soda and chocolate. You might find it hard to avoid some of these during your pregnancy. If you need to slowly wean yourself off of them, you can do that. However, be sure you do it in a timely fashion, as your unborn child's health is at risk if you do not.

As your body is undergoing some changes, you will soon notice that some foods you loved you can no longer tolerate. For example, some greasy foods might make you sick to your stomach and even just the smell of some foods might upset your stomach. If you have any questions or concerns about your eating habits, speak with your health care professional. He or she can clear up any concerns you may have and even give you advice on foods to eat and foods to avoid.
