Health For Pregnancy: Minimize Your Holiday Stress During Pregnancy

There are certain times of year when everyone's stress levels seem to be pushed to their limits. Everyone knows that stress is not healthy for anyone, but even worse for a women that is pregnant. During pregnancy your hormones are going to throw you for a loop sometimes, this can be very dangerous for anyone in her path. Making holidays sometime less than a joyous time.

There are some things she can do to minimize some of the stress she might be under during the holidays. If she normally would attend many family functions during this time of year, she should start making a calendar. Write down the engagements that are virtually impossible to get out of. Be sure you do not set up too many activities for one day. Plan some down time between the gatherings to ensure you are not overdoing yourself.

If on the day of an event you do not feel up to going, you should apologize and explain that you need some rest. Most people are going to understand how drawn a pregnant woman can feel. Never feel as if you are obligated to attend an event just because you were invited.

You will need to make a choice about the holidays and where you are going to celebrate them. Then you need to have a plan. If you are going to have a gathering at your home, you should assign tasks to other people. This doesn't mean you can not do anything in preparation of your gathering. Just do not overdo it. Do not be embarrassed to ask for help in planning your activities.

If you are going to someone else's home for the celebration you should keep in mind how you might feel. Right now you could feel absolutely wonderful and the thought of traveling is exciting. However, as the time nears for your travel, you might no longer feel it is such a good idea. So, confirm that you will be attending the event shortly before the actual event. If your mood or comfort changes, give them a courtesy call and let them know you are no longer feeling up to the event.

Holiday shopping can be another stressful time for an expecting mother. It could very well prove to be safer not going to those black Thursday sales. With the crowds someone could get hurt, and you want to keep your unborn child and yourself as safe as possible. A great alternative to in store shopping is online shopping. She can do it in the comfort of her own home without having to wait in line. She can relax and keep her feet up, yet still be very productive in her gift buying.

With the extra time you are getting because you didn't have to waste a day at the mall, get rain checks and try to find a parking spot you can pamper yourself. Go to the spa, have a full body rub or just get a manicure and pedicure. The options for pampering yourself are endless. Do whatever it is that will make you feel good. After all, the holidays are to make memories and bring a smile to someone's face.
